| Abstract | The adoption of the technology in doing indoor farming is becoming a trend, as consumers look for alternative ways on how they can do self-sustainability and producing their own crops, new technologies emerged to cater to the niche market. Indoor farming is not a new method, but an upgraded version of what was done earlier with greenhouses. With the advancement of technology, the incorporation of different devices has been used to lessen the manual processes and reduce human intervention. Automation has been the key to the step by step process development to successfully integrate different devices to form a central control system. The study assessed the factors that might affect the decision and the adoption of personal indoor farming, where the trend started globally and starting to penetrate different markets around the world. The study also focused on the Philippine market to know the needs and wants of the consumers. With the scenario building process, it has been identified that there are key factors that must be addressed the concerns that will impact the purpose of the personal indoor farm system. Knowing that cost of adopting new technology can be a vital factor, other variables have been seen to add more weight to the advantage and disadvantages of the adoption of the new technology and creating a lot of uncertainties if the technology will surpass the chasm and reach the general market for a wider adoption rate. With the effects of the pandemic, the trend of self-sustainability and producing crops for personal consumption has been a trend, and local consumers are starting to realize the importance of the smart use of small spaces in urban areas. The support of the government is adequate to help the wide adoption of the personal indoor farm particularly in urban areas where there is limited space for every household. |
