| Abstract | The project of developing the library of Sipat Elementary School intended to set up, establish, and make the SES library functional and operational for its learners. Specifically, it aimed to (1) create a listing of the book and non-book collection of the library and have an accession record; (2) organize the collection by classifying them using DDC and labeling them accordingly by color-coding; (3) solicit funds/library materials resources to be added in the collection; (4) create a library manual of procedures; (5) conduct an orientation to the librarian-in-charge; and (6) turn over solicited library materials to the library. After implementing the activities as planned in four phases, namely, initiation, planning, execution, and closing while adhering to required health protocols being implemented due to the current pandemic, the project was completed and duly turned over to the school. This included deliverables such as the accession record of all the library collection, the library manual of procedures, the organization of the collection using DDC and assigned color-coding, as well as the orientation of the librarian-in-charge and the school principal on the details of the MOP. None of the organizations and institutions that were sought for book donations were able to send their donations due to the limitations and challenges posed by the current pandemic. However, several private individuals contributed and with the solicited funds from them, the project manager was able to acquire additional bookshelves and children’s books for the collection. Despite the current challenging situation, the school principal and the project manager are optimistic that this project further enabled the school to better serve and provide additional services and facilities to their learners as they welcome them back once everything is back to normalcy. |
