Date Issued 21 June 2021
Abstract Establishing the St. Mary's Archive in Sagada” or simply, “St. Mary’s Arch,” in its entirety, aims to provide assistance through the transfer of basic knowhows as well as technical skills necessary for the establishment and operation of a community archive. The following objectives were accomplished by the project phase or Phase 1 through a series of lecture-workshops which followed a general structure but was generally kept flexible in order to accommodate the feedback from the participants: 1) identify the participants’ intentions for establishing the St. Mary’s community archive; 2) assist the participants in creating an inventory; 3) define what materials should be selected for inclusion in the archive; 4) identify guidelines on storage and handling; 5) compile all participant outputs and articulate them into a Manual of Procedures for St. Mary’s Archive; and, 6) evaluate the conducted trainings and consolidate the training materials into a training manual for a Community-Based archive. Apart from the accomplishment of the objectives outlined above, the report discusses other observations and findings such as the challenges and opportunities that accompanied the shift to online mediums; explorations on the causes of and possible remedies to participant shyness; and the impacts brought about by flexible programming of activities.
