Abstract | This paper investigated the digital vulnerabilities of Filipino kidfluencers on YouTube. It focused on their exposure to risks from sharing personal information, images, and videos. The research analyzed 100 videos from 10 different Filipino kidfluencer channels on YouTube. A qualitative approach was employed, using content screening and comment scraping for data processing. The findings identified six key digital vulnerabilities: (1) Privacy, which involves intrusions into private life and the disclosure of personal information in videos or comments, (2) Digital Footprint, which refers to the vulnerabilities arising from video content, which can lead to unwarranted comments on family image, criticism, coercion, and comparison, (3) Data Surveillance, describes how audiences can track and influence kidfluencers' actions, (4) Fetishization, which involves harassment with sexual undertones or inappropriate depictions, (5) Bullying, includes verbal abuse in videos and cyberbullying by viewers and (6) Non-Kidfluencer Digital Vulnerabilities which were noted as incidental findings, highlighting activity patterns not covered in existing literature. Recommendations for future research include a policy review to explore legal frameworks, and extending the scope to other social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram. The goal of this research is to raise awareness among kidfluencers, their families, and viewers about the potential digital risks associated with sharing personal information online. |
