| Abstract | While ENDS is considered less harmful than smoking traditional cigarettes, its effects on collegiate and professional athletes are understudied. This study explores the use of Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems (ENDS) among athletes and their impact on health and sports performance. It investigates the athletes’ knowledge of ENDS’ effects on health and performance and their motives for using it despite its dangers. This study also sheds light on the consequences of this trend and offers insights for athletes and sports scientists. This study employed mixed-method research using a cross-sectional study design where data was collected from surveys with close-and-open-ended questions. A total of 21 athletes engaged in various sports were recruited using a purposive sampling technique to understand the prevalence and effects of ENDS. Preliminary findings indicate that despite an awareness of health risks, athletes continue to use ENDS, suggesting that awareness alone may not suffice to deter usage. Results |
