Abstract Go-Soco, J.J. (2024) Please Don’t Forget Me. Unpublished Undergraduate Thesis, University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication.

Growing up, Isha was closer to her grandmother Lily than her parents. So, when Isha started noticing her lola’s mental deterioration as a result of her Alzheimer's, she thinks back to her memories with her grandmother, which not only reveal the depth of their relationship but also the development of her lola’s sickness. From Isha’s pre-pubescent hair struggles with lice and bullying to her awkward rebellious phase, and to her college graduation, Lily was there through it all. Likewise, from Lily’s first symptoms to the deterioration of her health, Isha was also there though she just fails to realize and notice this about Lily.

The theory of video as memory and reconstruction maintains that videos are raw materials used to construct personal and collective histories. Please Don’t Forget Me draws upon this idea to form the narrative of its characters’ introspections and arcs. Using this theory, the film posits that the fallibility of memory can be harnessed as a means to reconstruct, reevaluate, and redefine personal histories.
