Abstract | This study employed a descriptive, quantitative approach, wherein the researcher collected data using Google surveys, which determined the prevalence of disordered eating behavior (DEB) among female cheerleaders from eight participating schools in the University of Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The study aimed to fill in the knowledge gap in the literature about how prevalent disordered eating is among female cheerleaders. It involved an estimate of 46 active female cheerleaders ages 18 to 25 years old. Participants completed a survey form consisting of a demographic survey and the Eating Attitudes Test-26 (EAT-26) to evaluate disordered eating risks. Data from EAT-26 was computed and compared to >20, which determined whether respondents are at risk for disordered eating behavior. The total number of participants at risk and not at risk for disordered eating behavior was analyzed using descriptive analysis to get the mean score in order to determine how prevalent disordered eating behaviors are among the participants. |
