Resource Title Development of technology roadmap for a local digital agritech and agribusiness franchising startup: the case of Tagani, Inc.
Date Issued 12 May 2020
Abstract While other sectors have longly adopted state-of-the-art technologies, today's technology has yet to spread out in the agricultural sector such as web, mobile, cloud, IoT and artificial intelligence. Pressing to modernize the competitive handicap among farmers, agriculturists and consumers nowadays, digital agritech and agribusiness franchise startups are sure-fire to tackle the gaps in food security, in a country with an exponentially growing population, and innovation. This study will create a more essential impact to the community not just in the Philippines but in other countries as well, especially during the times of the pandemic like what happens during the execution of the study, as this study focuses on pushing for food security and sustainability especially in the urban neighborhood by bringing farm produce to table. Nevertheless, with the changing behavior of farmers and demand for efficiency by both farmers and their clients, the researcher strongly believes that there will be increased adoption of agribusiness solutions in the near future.

This paper aims to produce a business unit-level technology roadmap for a local digital agritech and agribusiness franchising startup in the agriculture sector. In addition, this study aimed to combine different market and strategic principles in order to build a strategic roadmap for Tagani Farms that primarily offers agribusiness franchising and farm construction services driven by a cloud-based platform and IoT to manage the various aspects of its operations. Moreover, this research used the strategic management cycle as the central framework as Tagani Farms will serve as the organization to evaluate in terms of internal and external factors. Nevertheless, the study's performance and its implementation will be criticized at the end of the road mapping activity. In order to enhance the Technology Road Map Activity, further recommendations and courses of action are also proposed.
