| Abstract | The government of Antipolo City particularly its mayor, Danilo Olayvar Leyble, aspires to develop Antipolo into a highly- urbanized city. The commercial aspect of the city is currently being improved. Citing as an example is SM Masinag which was built last year along Marcos Hi-way, Antipolo. Another is the wet & dry market along Sumulong Hi-way which is currently under renovation for it is planned to be a commercial complex. After the wet & dry market renovation, a Robinsons Mall is planned to be built along Sumulong Hi-way as well. The head of the City Planning and Development Office of Antipolo, Mr. Renato L. Matienzo, told me that a sports complex would indeed be an asset for the city especially for its urbanization process. He also said that as the largest city in Rizal, Antipolo would be more than pleased to host large scale competitions in the country. Lots of athletes in our country complain about how poorly funded they are by the government. They also do not have proper training equipment and facilities leading to lack of competence in international competitions. If they have the proper setting where they could train well not only because of complete facilities but also because of the imitation of an Olympics venue that gives them that Olympic game feeling, they may improve much more and give them a huge boost during international games bringing more fame and honor to our country. Also, if during their school days they could experience very competitive interschool games at such venue similar aesthetically and functionally to the real Olympics venue, they could carry this experience and serve as inspiration when they become professional athletes. |
