Resource Title | Wisdom from paradise: transforming the Daranak Falls landscape into a neo-nature park |
Date Issued | March 2011 |
Abstract | Earth has changed drastically over the past few decades. Climate behaves abnormally due to global warming. Natural disasters occur more frequently destroying thousands of lives. Forests are being replaced by commercial buildings, houses and resorts while mountains are being flattened to build roads and highways. Primarily, these changes are the result of various human activities which merely aim to provide the basic needs of life such as food, shelter and livelihood as well as provide human satisfaction and enjoyment. Although these things are necessary to sustain life this is by no means people cannot refrain from continuously destroying the environment where they live in. In fact, there are many ways where people can benefit from its natural resources and enjoy its beauty while simultaneously conserving it. This can only be done if people will be educated about the consequences of altering nature. This thesis is an example of integrating the concept of utilizing the environment for human enjoyment and educating people about the importance of nature in life. The Daranak Falls, considered as an environmentally critical area, is transformed into a neo-nature park where people can experience beauty that nature offers. The park is designed by utilizing and enhancing the elements that is already present in the area so as not to destroy its naturalness. And by injecting tiny bits of wisdom into the landscape, people would also be educated about nature and how it works. |
