| Abstract | The research gave light to the experiences of students currently taking their bachelor’s degree in Family Life and Child Development (FLCD) during the COVID-19 pandemic by describing their experiences regarding school and home life, and illustrating how transitions between these domains produce conflicts since the onset of lockdown due to the pandemic. This was achieved by interviewing 13 undergraduate students currently enrolled in the FLCD program who were chosen through purposive sampling. A pakikipagkwentuhan approach for the online interview facilitated a casual and semistructured narration of experiences from the students. The data gathered were subjected to open coding. Consequently, thematic analysis classified excerpts from their experiences and were discussed according to salient themes. Results showed that the students are slowly adjusting, but still struggling to acclimate to the new normal setup. Due to the merging of the school and home domains, all participants encountered school-home transitions, which frequently produced the presence of conflict. The inevitability of interruptions allows transitions and conflict to transpire in both integration and segmentation preferences. However, the conflicts experienced are oftentimes reconcilable when the students practice conflict management strategies, which become customary within their family. The findings of the study may aid in employing boundary management strategies that help balance school and home tasks, and adopting healthy coping strategies to improve the online learning experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. |
