Abstract In this fast-paced world, transition is an idea that is universally observed by millions of individuals across the globe: transition through the changing nature of a place and transition through movement across places. In this present society, and certainly in the future, changes in a setting are inevitable. How do we create a sense of permanence in this constantly-changing environment?
The University of the Philippines-Diliman currently has thousands of employees and staff. However, only a small portion is granted the privilege of having a dwelling inside the university. This backlog is happening because basic housing rules are not being followed. Together with the solutions being set by the administration and management, the existing UP BLISS property can address this housing backlog. This strategic site will be home to future transit ventures, such as the MRT 7 University Avenue Station and the UP Monorail Station.
This undergraduate thesis redeveloped the entire UP BLISS property to strengthen the site’s character as a transit-oriented development. Focusing on the housing aspect, it revolved around how the idea of transition could be translated through proper circulation, fluidity of physical space, and efficient transfer of housing unit ownership. In the end, a physical setting that could accommodate a housing development for University Avenue Station was created
