| Abstract | The study describes the level of marital satisfaction of male and female Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) nightshift workers and the aspects of marriage they are most and least satisfied with. Sixty-six males and females in Metro Manila were purposefully selected to participate in the survey while eleven among them joined the face-to-face interview. Data from the survey were analyzed using frequency and percentage tables and Mann Whitney U test of significance. Information from the interview was analyzed using thematic tables. Results showed that both genders are satisfied with their marriage. There is no significant difference in the level of marital satisfaction of males and females; however, there are some differences in the aspects of marriage they are most satisfied and least satisfied with. Males are most satisfied with being a parent and financial while females are most satisfied with financial and sexual. The difference is attributed to the disparity in gender role in childcare wherein men’s tasks are considered less stressful. Women are more sexually satisfied if the relationship is lasting. Financial aspect and family time are the top answers for both genders as least satisfying. Satisfaction with financial aspect depends on how individuals view their socio-economic status and the couples’ financial management. It is recommended to conduct future studies on marital satisfaction in families with different socio-demographic background using different method and theoretical framework. |
