Abstract The presence of project management plays a critical role in achieving satisfaction and successful project completion amidst certain constraints which typically exist across various industries. With this, the main challenge with project management heavily relies on the application of a certain project methodology that will fit the project needs on a given situation and condition in an industry.

Within the tech consulting industry, technology projects related with IT Infrastructure, Software Development, SAP, Data and Analytics, Automation, Artificial Intelligence, etc., require attention to incorporate a desired project management approach to match both project uncertainties and certainties to further increase the project success rate. This is in line with a recent study from Zippia which reported a 36% failure rate across Agile projects and 51% for Waterfall projects.

The study aims to investigate the implementation of hybrid methodology as a project management approach in the tech consulting industry. Hybrid methodology combines the traditional Waterfall and Agile methodologies, allowing organizations to leverage the strengths of both methodologies and mitigate their weaknesses. The research methodology employed in this study was a mixed-methods approach, consisting of both qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. Meanwhile, data analysis was done through the application of tech management tools such as Maturity Assessment Model, Environmental Scanning and Technology Roadmapping.

Upon the analysis of the obtained results, the study indicated a mid-level maturity when it comes to project management within the tech consulting industry. This was associated with resource, scope, and schedule management as identified to be the major challenges among the given knowledge areas.
