| Abstract | The goals of Sustainable Development are constantly thereatened by the damage caused by the tourism industry to both nature and culture. The thesis answers the need for sustainable design for tourism destinations through the presentation of a GUIDE for designing ecotourism spots - a step-by-step process that can serve from conceptial to operational stages of a given project. The study discusses the integral concepts of ecotourism, ecosystem and carrying capacity, and their implications un the actual design of a destination. Such concepts and the abovementioned guide are then applied in the design of the Biak-na-Bato National Park in San Miguel, Bulacan. |
