Abstract | Information and communication technology (ICT) has a significant impact on how our modern world is shaped, how industries are changed, and how we live, work, and interact. This study presented a thorough analysis of ICT-related research and development (R&D), emphasizing its importance, current trends, and future course. The future framework for ICT R&D in the nation was used in this study's technology foresight, which also included scenario development. The researcher investigated the current ICT R&D environment and looked at the factors influencing ICT R&D. Using the ten (10) stages of scenario planning, the author was able to produce four (4) scenarios. This was done through analyzing the key predictable variables, critical uncertainties as well as interviews with key experts in the ICT industry. The outcome was the plausible future scenarios pertaining to the future of R&D in ICT. The study highlighted the importance of ICT R&D in driving innovation, economic growth, and societal progress. It explores how R&D efforts in ICT have led to breakthroughs in various domains, including artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, and data analytics, among others. This study emphasized the role of ICT R&D in addressing complex challenges, such as cybersecurity, digital transformation, and sustainable development. The assessment also looked at the major catalysts for ICT R&D, such as government programs, academic research centers, and business partnerships. It explored the value of multidisciplinary research and the necessity of stakeholder cooperation to realize the full potential of ICT R&D. |
