| Abstract | Aiming to transform the public transportation system in the Philippines, the government’s transportation department launched the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP) in 2017, which envisions a restructured road-based public transport industry. Included as part of the Fleet Modernization component of the PUVMP is the establishment of innovative, intelligent transportation systems such as a Public Transport Information Management System (PTIMS). A project that plans to harness a PTIMS in monitoring PUVs is still in its initial planning stage and is yet to be established and implemented. The government plans to implement its pilot in the EDSA Carousel, also called the EDSA Busway. Once completed, the government expects to establish a centralized planning and monitoring system to provide safe and efficient public transportation. This capstone project looks at the successes of other nations’ public transportation reform programs and digital transformations to provide valuable technical information, insights, and guidance in coming up with a strategic plan, tailored and aligned in the local context, for the establishment of the first public transport information management system in the country. By applying a holistic framework, which fosters the integration of the concepts of the right project, the right people, and the right processes in implementing projects, this capstone project aims to create a project management plan for establishing a PTIMS in EDSA Busway. The project management plan will serve as a written guide and reference for the proper implementation of the project. It will also serve as a reference document in creating the Terms of Reference used to procure a solutions provider who will contribute their knowledge and technical skills in executing the project. |
