Resource Title SARII: a business management and microfinancing application for micro enterprises
Date Issued 16 January 2024
Abstract Micro enterprises compose a vast majority of the businesses in the Philippines. Managing these enterprises require recording of the company's financial activities and other aspects like procurement, inventory, and orders. Modern enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems have been available in the market, but are too costly and complex for micro businesses to utilize. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, another problem faced by micro enterprises is the lack of working capital to maintain the business. The increasing adaptation of mobile technology in the Philippines presents an opportunity to develop a business management and microfinancing application that micro entrepreneurs can utilize to keep track of their activities and borrow additional capital, as well as investors to lend money and gain passive income.

It was found out that micro enterprises in the Philippines indeed have challenges in recording business activities, monitoring finance and inventory, and acquiring capital. Thus, a mobile application that caters to the needs of business owners, managers, and investors has been formulated by creating customer journey map, user stories, and prototype. Business environment assessment through external factor evaluation, PESTLE analysis, and competitor analysis revealed that SARII has potential to become competitive in the Philippine market. Further study regarding the company’s financial plan, product roadmap, and international expansion are recommended.
