Resource Title The future of hybrid learning technology system for PSHS-MRC: a technology foresight through scenario building
Date Issued 30 June 2023
Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of online learning and highlighted the value of technology in education. Hybrid learning technology systems combine traditional face-to-face instruction with online learning platforms, creating a blended learning environment that enhances educational experiences. This approach enables students to access
educational resources and engage in collaborative activities in physical classrooms and virtual platforms. The adoption of hybrid learning technology systems has gained substantial attention from academic institutions worldwide, particularly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which demanded remote learning solutions. However, the adoption of hybrid learning technology systems comes with its own set of challenges. Infrastructure and technological requirements must be in place to ensure the smooth integration of online platforms and in-person instruction. Training and support for educators are essential to enable them to utilize the technology and design engaging online content effectively. Furthermore, maintaining student motivation and overcoming potential disparities in access to technology and internet connectivity are additional challenges that must be addressed.

This foresight study attempts to predict possible scenarios in the future by examining current trends that could provide insights for formulating strategies for adopting hybrid learning technology systems for the Philippine Science High School MIMAROPA Region Campus (PSHS-MRC). It examines the technical constraints, identifies strategies to overcome barriers, and proposes strategies for effectively integrating the systems. Using the Ten (10) Step Technology Foresight Method, which Professor Glen A. Imbang introduced in the Strategic Management Course, three scenarios were generated from this methodology. The Scenario Planning exercise provided valuable insights, success factors, and strategies for PSHS-MRC planning to adopt hybrid learning technol
