Abstract | Project TAWA (Technology Adoption Workshop and Assimilation) is a project to support public school teachers in the Department of Education (DepEd), District of Carmona, Cavite, to integrate technology into their teaching methods. This aligns with Carmona’s vision of becoming a "smart city," where technology is central to transforming education. The initiative focuses on providing ongoing professional development to equip teachers with the skills to use technology effectively, ultimately enhancing student learning and improving classroom dynamics. The program is structured to provide a mix of workshops, hands-on practice, and ongoing support to help teachers enhance their technology skills. It covers training on a variety of digital tools and educational platforms, with hands-on activities that enable teachers to implement these tools in their classrooms. To ensure continuous growth, the program also offers follow-up sessions and online resources for additional learning and guidance. While still in the development stage, early feedback from pilot programs, including a workshop held on May 26, 2024, has been positive. Teachers reported increased confidence in using technology and expressed interest in integrating tech tools into their lessons. Observations suggest that when technology is used effectively, students become more engaged, leading to better learning outcomes. Despite challenges such as limited resources, budget constraints, and scheduling conflicts, the potential benefits of Project TAWA are clear. The project addresses the critical need for teachers to integrate technology into their instructional practices, especially within Carmona’s smart city vision. Institutionalizing Project TAWA within DepEd Carmona would ensure that teachers continue to receive the necessary support and professional development. By providing ongoing training, the project can help build a skilled, tech-savvy teaching force capable of meeting the demands of modern ed |
