Abstract | In the Philippines, the ICT industry in particular the IT/ Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry is already a very important factor in the country’s economy. This continued growth of the ICT sector is important for the socio-economic development of our country. While the Philippines continue to be competitive against other countries in the region, one of its main weaknesses is the relatively small pool of skills. This thesis seeks to design a regional center for Information and Communication Technology training and digital literacy promotion in CALABARZON that would encourage learning, and collaboration. Taking into consideration that linkages and networks help accelerate information flow, the overall design concept for IKOTEK is that it is an architecture that focuses on social spaces to promote interconnectivity. It also emphasizes on flexible spaces to meet the changing needs of the users and the industry; and the application of blended learning through ICT; while grounded on the context of CALABARZON. IKOTEK, Impormasyon at pangKOmunikasyon TEKnolohiya, is a tool towards the promotion of ICT, development of skills, the growth of the ICT industry and economy, and to digitally empowered citizenry in the context of CALABARZON. |
