Resource Title Foresight-driven application scouting: scenario building for technology choices in sales company X presales practice
Date Issued 18 December 2025
Abstract This study was conducted as a strategic technology foresight initiative focusing on the future of presales technology evaluation and emerging IT trends for company X over the next 5–10 years. A structured ten-stage scenario-building methodology was applied to address key focal issues, including lack of long-term technology foresight, capability gaps, and the need for outcome-based strategic engagement within the organization’s presales practice. Environmental scanning, SWOT and STEEPS analyses, and the identification of Key Predictable Variables (KPVs) and Critical Uncertainties (CUs) were undertaken to construct multiple future scenarios that reflect alternative trajectories shaped by technological, economic, regulatory, and competitive forces.

The analysis led to the development of scenario narratives, including Accelerated AI Enterprise Future, Regulation-First Transformation, and Market-Driven Cloud Acceleration, each illustrating how shifts in AI adoption, cloud evolution, regulatory volatility, and hyperscale competition may influence presales strategy and technology planning. Findings indicate that AI-enabled operational models and hybrid cloud expansion are among the most probable drivers of future transformation. However, the study emphasizes that achieving sustainable competitiveness will require strategic interventions, including capability development, structured technology intelligence, and outcome-oriented client engagement.

The foresight outputs through scenario-building generated in this study aim to support company X in anticipating future challenges, navigate uncertainties, and strengthening its presales function toward a more proactive, data-driven, and future-aligned decision-making.
